Whether you’re visiting Nantucket for a weekend in December or planning to stay the entire month, the island has plenty of festivities to help celebrate the season.
Kick off the holiday season with Nantucket’s 50th Annual Christmas Stroll from December 6 to 8. This event features the arrival of Santa Claus via a nautical "sleigh," Victorian-dressed carolers, the Magical Talking Tree, craft shows, concerts, and a Christmas Marketplace.
Also beginning December 6 is the Nantucket Historical Association’s Festival of Trees. Each year local merchants, nonprofit organizations, artists, and school children design their own holiday trees for display during the month of December at the Whaling Museum. Proceeds from this event support the Nantucket Historical Association’s year-round educational outreach and preservation efforts.
Visit Santa Clause after his arrival on December 7 at the Whaling Museum. Or have "Brunch with Santa" on December 15 at The Nantucket Hotel & Resort. The event offers a magical experience for children of all ages.
Nantucket Nutcracker and Sugar Plum Social: On December 8, see local dancers of all ages perform the 11th Annual Nantucket Nutcracker at the Nantucket High School Auditorium. Then on December 14, stop by Lemon Press in Downtown Nantucket for an afternoon of festivities with food, drinks and holiday fun.
Local Shopping: Downtown Nantucket's shops often offer special sales and festive window displays during the holiday season. (Find our agents’ favorite local shops here). The Christmas Stroll Marketplace on December 7th, 2024, from 10 am to 3 pm, features local vendors offering crafts, food, and holiday gifts.
