Set for December 5-7, the Christmas Stroll weekend signifies the beginning of the Christmas season on Nantucket.

The arrival of Christmas on Nantucket is often a favorite tradition for visitors and locals alike and this year it's gearing up to be better than ever with the celebration of Nantucket’s 51st annual Christmas Stroll.
For the annual Stroll, Main Street in Nantucket is transformed into a winter wonderland with more than 100 twinkling Christmas trees. Merchants in Town will keep their shops open late during Stroll weekend, inviting residents and visitors to enjoy holiday shopping right here on the island. This specific tradition began more than 50 years ago to encourage Nantucket islanders to do their Christmas shopping locally, instead of shopping elsewhere.
But that’s not all. The Christmas Stroll, hosted by the Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce, features Santa arriving Nantucket-style by boat, after the lighting of Main Street’s 20-foot Christmas tree. The party goes on with a European-style holiday market, food, crafts, drinks and even live entertainment.
Throughout the month of December, The Nantucket Historical Association transforms the Whaling Museum into a magical holiday haven. The Festival of Trees features more than 50 uniquely decorated trees designed by local businesses, artists, and non-profit organizations.

"One of my favorite holidays on Nantucket is Christmas Stroll because the stores decorate so beautifully and the tree-lined Main Street looks like something out of a vintage painting. Also, Santa pays a visit and it brings a smile to the faces of so many children."

The Christmas Stroll is my favorite event on Nantucket. It is so beautiful here and the energy of celebration is really "magical." Best place to be for the Christmas Holiday season
