The arrival of Christmas on Nantucket is often a favorite tradition for visitors and locals alike and this year is gearing up to be better than ever with the celebration of Nantucket’s 50th annual Christmas Stroll.
Main Street in Nantucket comes alive with twinkling Christmas trees, and merchants in Town keep their shops open late the weekend of the Christmas Stroll to encourage locals and guests to do their Christmas shopping on the island.
But that’s not all. The annual Stroll, hosted by the Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce, features Santa arriving Nantucket-style by boat, after the lighting of Main Street’s 20-foot Christmas tree. The party goes on with a holiday market, food, crafts, drinks and even live entertainment.
Throughout the month of December, The Nantucket Historical Association transforms the Whaling Museum into a glittering winter wonderland for the weekend. And more than 50 uniquely decorated trees designed by local businesses, artists, and non-profit organizations make up the Festival of Trees showcase in Town.

From our Agents
"One of my favorite holidays on Nantucket is Christmas Stroll because the stores decorate so beautifully and the tree-lined Main Street looks like something out of a vintage painting. Also, Santa pays a visit and it brings a smile to the faces of so many children."

The Christmas Stroll is my favorite event on Nantucket. It is so beautiful here and the energy of celebration is really "magical." Best place to be for the Christmas Holiday season
