Location: Madaket is located about 6 miles west of downtown Nantucket, at the far western tip of the island. It’s one of the more remote areas but is easily accessible by car, bike, or the island’s public transit system, The WAVE.

Madaket Beach: Madaket Beach is one of the biggest draws to the area. Millie’s Bridge and Hither Creek: Millie’s Bridge crosses Hither Creek, which flows into Madaket Harbor. The creek is a calm, scenic spot for kayaking, paddle boarding, and boating. It’s also a great place for fishing and birdwatching, with a peaceful atmosphere away from the busier beaches.

The area is named after Millie Jewett, a local legend who was a longtime Nantucket lifeguard and protector of Madaket’s natural beauty.

Madaket Sunset: Sunsets in Madaket are some of the most spectacular on the island. The expansive views over the western horizon make it a prime spot for sunset watchers. Many visitors head to Madaket Beach in the early evening to catch the sun setting over the Atlantic Ocean—it's one of the most iconic views on Nantucket.
