Boston Pops on Nantucket

Each August, thousands of locals and visitors make their way to Jetties Beach for one of Nantucket's favorite summer traditions: the annual Boston Pops concert on Nantucket.

The beachfront event brings the Boston Pops to the island for an evening of live music under the summer sky, typically joined by a special musical guest and followed by fireworks over Nantucket Sound. More than a concert, the event is the largest annual fundraiser for Nantucket Cottage Hospital, the island's nonprofit community hospital.

The 30th annual Boston Pops on Nantucket is expected to return in August 2027. The official date, musical guest and ticket information have not yet been announced.

The Boston Pops on Nantucket began in 1997 as a fundraiser for Nantucket Cottage Hospital. The inaugural event featured legendary composer and conductor John Williams and raised $585,000 for cardiac equipment and defibrillators.

Nearly three decades later, the concert has become a signature event on Nantucket's summer calendar, raising millions of dollars to support the hospital and healthcare on the island.

The beach setting is a big part of the concert's uniqueness and appeal. General admission guests spread blankets and beach chairs across Jetties Beach, unpacking picnic dinners and settling in for an evening of music by the water.

The night traditionally ends with fireworks over Nantucket Sound.

While details for the 2027 concert haven't been released yet, the event traditionally features a performance by the Boston Pops along with a special musical guest.

For the 2026 concert, the Boston Pops on Tour was joined by Yachtley Crew, a Los Angeles-based band known for its yacht rock performances.

General admission is the classic way to experience the event. Bring a blanket or beach chairs, pack a picnic and find your spot on the sand. Reserved seating and special donor experiences are also typically offered, too.

Tickets for the 2027 Boston Pops on Nantucket are not yet available.

For reference, 2026 general admission tickets were $30 for adults and $10 for children ages 5 to 12, while children under 5 were free. Reserved seating and donor packages were also available directly through the Nantucket Cottage Hospital Development Office.

Tickets for this popular event should be purchased in advance once they become available.

The Boston Pops is a beach concert, so plan accordingly. Guests typically bring beach chairs or a blanket, a picnic dinner, water and an extra layer for later in the evening.

Food and beverages are not usually available for purchase inside the event, and alcohol and glass containers are prohibited. Umbrellas, canopies and pets other than service animals are also not permitted.

Jetties Beach is close to Town, making walking or biking two of the easiest ways to get to the concert.

Parking at Jetties Beach is typically unavailable during the event, and nearby roads may be closed or restricted. Free bicycle parking is often provided near the entrance on Bathing Beach Road.

If you’re staying in Town, Brant Point or the Cliff area, the concert is particularly easy to reach without a car. Visitors staying farther from Town should plan transportation well in advance, since taxis and rideshare services can be in high demand during major summer events.

Every ticket supports healthcare on the island. One hundred percent of proceeds from the 2026 event benefited Nantucket Cottage Hospital, helping support the nonprofit hospital that serves Nantucket's year-round community as well as its many seasonal residents and visitors.

That connection to the island is part of what has kept the Boston Pops on Nantucket at the center of the summer calendar for nearly 30 years.
