Many sites in Nantucket are surprisingly dog-friendly — think beaches, patio dining, and scenic walks. Whether you're visiting for a weekend or a whole season, our agents at William Raveis Nantucket are here to help you plan the perfect vacation with your best pal:
Dogs are welcome before 9 a.m and after 5 p.m. in-season (May 15–Sept 15) and are allowed all day in the off-season — just remember to leash when posted and clean up after them!
Surfside Beach – Wide open space for fetch and wave chasing.
Dionis Beach – Calmer waters and fewer crowds, which is great for more anxious pups.
Miacomet Beach – A quieter stretch for beach walks and digging.
Madequecham Beach – A bit remote, but amazing views and space.
Eel Point – Perfect for adventurous dogs and tidepool exploring.
Many island restaurants welcome dogs in their outdoor seating areas. Some even offer water bowls and treats. Below are the most popular dog-friendly restaurants and cafes:
Cisco Brewers – Super dog-friendly with live music and food trucks.
Something Natural – Great sandwiches and shady picnic tables.
The Juice Bar – Grab ice cream and chill with your pup out front.
Island Kitchen – Outdoor patio is great for brunch with your dog.
Millie’s (Madaket) – Dogs welcome on the porch; sunsets for you both.
The island is packed with nature trails and preserves, which are perfect for leash walks and sniff-worthy exploration. Some of our favorites include:
Tupancy Links – Open space + ocean views; a local favorite for dog walkers.
Sanford Farm – Wide trails through meadows and moors.
Middle Moors – Peaceful and scenic, especially in spring.
Geronimo’s – Local pet shop with treats, toys, and gear.
NiSHA (Nantucket Island Safe Harbor for Animals) – Great local animal shelter & resource for pet lovers.
Wags of Nantucket – Pet-sitting, walking, and grooming services.
Some boat charters and rentals allow dogs — try Endeavor Sailing or Shearwater Excursions for pup-friendly options (always call ahead).
