One of Nantucket’s most anticipated events, the Daffodil Festival (or the Daffy as locals call it), marks the start of spring on the island. The April event is just around the corner and our team at William Raveis Nantucket is here to break down some of the weekend can’t miss activities.
Antique Car Parade & Tailgate Picnic, Saturday, April 26: Starting at 9:30 a.m., Main Street will display vintage cars adorned with daffodils and decorations. The parade begins at noon, proceeding through downtown Nantucket to Sconset for a festive tailgate picnic.
Daffodil Hat Pageant: Starting at 10 a.m., participants of all ages can showcase their creativity with daffodil-themed hats. Ribbons for the most creative hats are awarded for both adults and kids.
Children's Beach Bike Parade: Shortly after the Hat Pageant, the bike parade kicks off, featuring bicycles, wagons, or strollers decorated in daffodil motifs.
Daffodil Dog Parade: In the afternoon, the dog parade features adorable dogs dressed in daffodil-inspired costumes.
Hosted at Bartlett's Farm, this annual flower show features daffodil entries, floral arrangements, and photography exhibits.
Festival Theme:
Traditionally, the festival embraces the general celebration of spring and the blooming daffodils, with participants often incorporating their own creative themes into decorations and attire.
